The past week I have been troubleshooting public folders in MS Outlook disappearing off of a client’s machine. This has been an issue for quite some time. After about 20 hours of troubleshooting I have narrowed it down to a few updates that, when installed, make public folders disappear right before your eyes (after reboot).
Updates that make public folders disappear:
After installing either of these updates on the client’s machine, and rebooting, I opened MS Outlook 2010 and unexpanded her folder, then watched Public Folders magically disappear right before my eyes.
The solution was to restore to a previous version of MS Windows 8, then hide the updates that caused the issue.
