With the proliferation of the “Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)” era, employees are bringing personal laptops, tablets, smart phones, external hard-drives, etc. to work which potentially leads to data being intentionally or un-intentionally abused by employees. To try and resolve this part of this problem and align the credit unions with proper IS&T audit policy, we configure rules on the server environment that lock down all the computers and prevent USB storage devices from installing when they are plugged in. Employees can continue to use all other USB devices; they simply cannot plug in storage devices and expect it to work. This is one way we help minimize mismanaged data for our customers.
